Assemblage ran a series of pop up exhibitions titled Impromptu. 1,2 & 3, in early 2012. The exhibition were open to the public for one day only each.
This fleeting manifestation of an art gallery showcased and had on sale the work of Johannesburg based painters, photographers, draughtsman and printmakers. The art was displayed in a non-traditional gallery space, opening up one of Braamfontein’s most beautiful buildings to the public and letting artists temporarily take over the space. Artists exhibiting were at the pop-up gallery during the course of the exhibition to interact with visitors, explaining their work and answering questions.
A selection of emerging artists was shown.
